An earthquake which had a magnitude of 7.9 Ms happened in Wenchuan County, Sichuan province of the People's Republic of China at 06:28:04.1 UTC on 12 May 2008. The earthquake was felt as far away as Beijing, Shanghai, Taiwan, Pakistan, Thailand, and Vietnam. The number of victims has risen to 34,074(星岛环球网 2008-05-17) so far.
